Over 120 golfers to vie for NEGC 123rd Annual Captain’s Cup and 68th year President’s Prize

Nuwara Eliya Golf Club which is the oldest golf course in Sri Lanka and probably one of the oldest in the world has touched its 130th year. The Club which was established in the year 1889 has turned out to be one of the most prestigious clubs in Sri Lanka.

NEGC is the only golf club in Sri Lanka which has won the president’s award for the most outstanding leisure sports provider in recognition of the sporting excellence and achievement.

Dialog Enterprise, the corporate solution arm of Dialog Axiata PLC is the exclusive main sponsor for the club since 2015.

The prestigious Captain’s Cup and the President’s Prize is scheduled to be played on 13 and 14 April. More than 120 golfers are expected to compete in the two events.

Both the Captain’s Cup and President’s Prize have long history in Sri Lanka. The Captain’s Cup was introduced in 1897, while the President’s Prize was first played in 1951. The two events have been played regularly over a number of years.

During the events the club will also cater to the rest of the members with live music, action station and international cuisine for dinner.
