KRA and TRA win in Anuradhapura

Under-12 Kandy Rugby Academy team

More than 800 players ranging from Under 8 up to Under 16 took part in the annual rugby carnival which was organised for the third year by Sri Lions Rugby Academy which took place during last weekend at the Anuradhapura Rugby Stadium.

Teams from Sri Lions, RPF, HARFA, Kandy Rugby Academy, Vidura, G Bees, Tigers, Pandura, Palians and President featured in this tournament.

Kandy Rugby Academy won the Under 12 event while the Under 14 and Under 16 event was won by Tigers Rugby Academy.

Kandy Rugby Academy Under 12 team was coached by former Sylvestrian, Shakeer Nizam (Bonny) who played for Kandy Lions with Mohamed Rasheed being the Director of the KRA while the Tigers was coached by former Vidyartha player, Sumedha Malawana.

Western Province represented with 540 players followed by Central Province with 231 and North Western Province the hosts fielding 81 players for this event.
