Sixteen-year-old golf sensation Haroon Aslam created history by winning the main event of the Victoria Golf and Country Resort (VGCR) to claim the Donald Steel Championship 2020, at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort in Rajawella, Digana recently.Up to 60 local and international amateur golfers participated in this annual club event with Aslam winning the competition with 34 points while Yuk Asakawa finished as runner-up with 28 points.
The Pam Fernando Trophy for the ladies was won by Melanie Bond who recorded a gross score of 26 points with Ahalya Rajan finishing as the runner-up with 25 points.
Meanwhile, Desiree Penn was the winner of the Senior Ladies’ and Men’s Combined event with a nett score of 33 points. Jayakody was the winner of the Victoria Bowl with a nett score of 39 points while Rizmy Shariff was the winner of the Ebert Pot with a nett score of 38 points. TORO, VinAgro, Cinnamon Air, John Keells Properties and Elephant House were the sponsors of this mega event.
