Another election committee for Carrom election

A re-election committee has been appointed for the Carrom Federation elections, by the Ministry of Sports. This selection committee consists of three experts in the field of law and administration.

Retired District Judge Upali Samaraweera has been appointed as the Chairman of the Committee, with retired SSP NAT Jayasinghe and Sabaragamuwa Province Sports Director (Retired) Palitha Jayatilleke the other members of the Election Committee.On the instructions of the Director General of Sports Amal Edirisuriya, 68 sports clubs were summoned for this event.

The scheduled election has been postponed on several occasions in the past due to a variety of reasons. Most recently it was postponed following the death of a member of the election committee appointed at the SGM of Carrom Federation. Subsequently, the Ministry of Sports appointed a re-election committee and the elections will now be held constitutionally as soon as possible.

Department of Sports Development Director Sheela de Saram, Legal Officer of the Ministry of Sports Shiromi Ranawaka, Head of the Department of Sports Development and Internal Auditor B.M.S.S. Basnayake are representing the Ministry.
