Air Force win at home

Air Force beat Police 16/7 at a game that was preceded by much drama.

After one of the Assistant Referees was assaulted by Air Force supporters within their own premises, the Referees Society did not agree to blow at Ratmalana, which was costly for the home team as they would have had to play their home matches elsewhere. At last the referees agreed to blow after a written assurance was given by Air Force.

Parakrama Rathnayake drew first blood for the home team, but Police hit back through a Suranga Kasun try with Chandimal adding the extras, which took the Cops to the lead 7/5. Two Gayantha Iddamalgoda penalties took them to an 11/7 lead. Prakrama Ratnayake touched down for the second time to take the lead 16/7. Some sloppy ball handling and number of errors cost them the game.

Police losing out on consistency will be a big issue for their Head Coach, Shamly Nawas. (SJ)
