BCIS signs a MoU to enhance SL-China academic cooperation

01The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) and the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) have entered into an agreement yesterday in Colombo to enhance academic cooperation between Sri Lanka and China.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was signed between the two institutions, is aimed at promoting international relations, academic cooperation and research between Sri Lanka and China, which mark 60 years of diplomatic relations this year.

The BCIS, which was established in 1974 by Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike, is Sri Lanka’s premier International Relations institution, which provides both education and research in International Relations and its affiliated fields.

The CIIS, dating back to 1956, is the think-tank of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and conducts research and analysis on a wide range of foreign policy issues.

The MoU was signed by the President of CIIS, Ambassador Su Ge and Director of the BCIS, Dr. Harinda Vidanage at the BCIS.
