Overnight pirith ceremony and alms at Hambantota Port

A pirith ceremony was held recently at the administrative building of the Hambantota International Port (HIP). 20 Buddhist monks from 19 temples within the port’s locality, were in attendance at the ceremony, while children from the Sri Seelawimala Samudraramaya, Daham school, staff of Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG) and Hambantota International Port Services (HIPS), other local employees attached to the Port, officials from Government institutes and private companies as well as villagers from the surrounding area participated in the overnight event. The pirith ceremony was organised by HIP to invoke blessings upon the port, its operations and employees, and was followed by a heel dhane (breakfast alms) the next day.
