McLarens Group opens new office in Hambantota Port

The McLarens Group celebrates another milestone in its drive for expansion when it opened an office on the 7th floor of the Sayurupaya building, the Hambantota Maritime Service Centre, located within the port of Hambantota. The expansion comes amid the growing business opportunities that the port offers.

Having foreseen the tremendous opportunity in establishing a presence within the Hambantota Port, GAC Sri Lanka, a subsidiary of McLarens Group, became pioneers as the first ship agent to set up an office providing agency, husbandry and other shipping services in the vicinity of the Hambantota port in 2011. To further reap the benefits, other companies under the Group such as, Spectra Integrated Logistics, and Interocean Energy, opened up offices inside the Hambantota Port to leverage the better serve their customers with their range of services and products. 

With maritime and logistics at the heart of the business, McLarens Group offers a wide range of services within HIPG. These include bunkering, ship supply services, layup services, oil and gas related services and all husbandry services spanning the industry.

“The new office within the port premises will strengthen our presence in southern Sri Lanka and allow us to provide more efficient, timely and consolidated services to our customers, while strengthening our business relationship with HIPG and our business confidence in Hambantota,” says GAC Sri Lanka Director/Chief Executive Officer Ravi Edirisinghe. 

Interocean Energy Managing Director M.G. Padmabandu is optimistic about the opportunities that will prevail when bunkering operations go full steam at the port. “Besides servicing vessels along the major international east-west shipping route, we anticipate a growing bunker demand, as a result of the industrial and commercial development in Hambantota.”
