Kuwait is in the process of awarding six tenders to execute projects related to loading and unloading cargo by 2021 – the agreed time-frame, said a report.

These tenders include that for a road project linking the port with the main road, yard for containers, administrative buildings for employees running the port, customs area, equipment handling zone and a special contract for marine dredging, reported Arab Times, citing a source close to the Ministry of Public Works.

Several major international companies have already been qualified for these projects, it stated.

In a related development, sources from the Ministry of Electricity and Water have confirmed that it was ready to supply high powered electricity network for the port within a certain period, especially since the budget for this purpose has been allocated, it added.
