Through a milestone collaboration, Sri Lanka Telecom PLC (SLT) introduced to the country its first-ever turnkey smart home consumer solution offered exclusively for residents of John Keells Properties’ (JKP) upcoming TRI-ZEN development.

The pioneering smart-living package will feature a one-of-a-kind smart home experience, providing a single, integrated portal for homeowners to communicate with their apartment both remotely and from within the home.

With a comprehensive set of pre-installed connected home and Internet of Things (IoT) products, JKP will be the first property developer in the country to leverage – through its IT arm, JKIT – digital cloud and IoT connectivity technologies, to bring to the Sri Lankan real estate market a current global industry trend.

The smart home solution, developed specifically for TRI-ZEN, will empower residents to seamlessly manage their personal smart home ecosystem through a smart phone application. Packed with multiple capabilities and designed for maximum convenience, this revolutionary and easy-to-use solution will afford residential users the ability to monitor, automate, secure, and control their homes remotely from anywhere and at any time, using just a phone, tablet or computer.

From keyless entry and the checking in on the status of smoke detectors, to the control of light switches, plug points and air conditioning from within the home, home monitoring, security, and comfort management solution will also enable users to receive and pay off their utilities bills from anywhere in the world.

In addition to the standard package available to all TRI-ZEN homeowners, users can also upgrade to Platinum and Platinum Plus packages which include a greater and more advanced suite of features including voice command recognition and smart curtains, among others.

“At John Keells Properties we pride ourselves in our commitment to creating living experiences that exceed the needs of the contemporary urban lifestyle,” said JKP Sector Head Nayana Mawilmada. “The decision to make TRI-ZEN homes ‘smart’ was made very early on in our design process, and we are delighted to now have SLT’s infrastructure and customer service combined with JKIT software, enabling us to execute this vision.”

“As part of the IoT, smart home systems and devices are able to operate together, sharing data and automating actions based on the homeowners’ preferences,” explained JKP Head of Engineering and TRI-ZEN Development Manager Lumbini Pathirage. “Utilising these technologies, we are able to introduce to our consumers all-encompassing smart home solutions with data, voice, smart connectivity and telecommunication services, all bundled into the smart home package.”

“We are confident that the synergies of our partnership with John Keells Properties will reap immense gains for all stakeholders,” said SLT CEO Kiththi Perera. “Additionally, with our shared commitment to surpassing customer expectations through superior product quality, I am certain that residents in particular will benefit greatly from the convenience and connectivity this service provides.”

Scheduled for completion in early 2023, TRI-ZEN is a project by Braybrooke Residential Towers (BRT), a joint venture between JKP and Indra Traders Ltd. This 53-storey urban escape promises a life of contemporary living at the heart of Colombo, designed with the integration of smart technology and options for smart interiors for each of its 891 apartment units.
