As part of the FOCUS series of conferences organised by the French Embassy in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, the above event will be held on 18 September in collaboration with the Agenceconsulaire de France à Kandy, Alliance Francaise de Kandy and the Rotary Club of Kandy at the Sinhaputhra Auditorium, 11 Hill Street, Kandy.

In order to make this event more interactive and to grasp the interest of young participants, an open competition for school teenagers in Kandy on their concept for the Bogambara prison area re-development in five slides has been requested to be emailed to [email protected].  Since this is an open competition any school child may enter without application. The Interact club of Trinity College has been appointed as the lead Interact club to coordinate the young students’ competition. The best three presentations sent before the 10 September will be projected during the conference which will be graced by Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake, and heads and nominees of the bodies mentioned.

The presentations will be followed by unveiling of scheduled city development plans for Kandy by a JAICA representative.

The special guest speaker on the day will be Clémentine Malgras, from France, who will be speaking about her experience working on collaborative society initiatives for the OuiShare, a platform collaborates actors in society/economy, and research/consulting centres to develop their initiatives (http://ouishare.net/en).
