Coenergi has clinched its first project in India, with Anugraha Fashion Mill Ltd. from Tiripur signing up Coenergi as a consultant to obtain Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold for its facility in Tiripur.

The contract letter was exchanged on 27 December 2019 at the Anugraha Fashions factory between Anugraha Fashions Operations General Manager M. Mohan and Coenergi Chief Operating Officer Madushan Samarakoon.

Anugraha Fashions is a high-quality vertically integrated garment manufacturer based in Tirupur, South India. With manufacturing consisting of spinning, knitting, wet processing and garment manufacturing, it is a fibre and fashion garment solution provider to some of the leading brands in Europe. Giving prime importance to environment and sustainability, the entire power requirement for spinning, knitting, wet processing and garment divisions comes from regenerated energy which is from wind and solar power.

The state-of-art effluent treatment plant with reverse osmosis and an evaporation system ensures Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) at their wet processing unit.   The Anugraha Group is certified for the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System. Taking a further step with sustainability, the company has now undertaken the journey to be LEED Certified.

A building engineering consultancy based on a philosophy of ‘smart design’, Coenergi specialises in green building consultancy and MEP design consultancy. In the era of climate change with the plant under severe threat for survival and the construction industry accounting for 40% of worldwide energy usage, with estimates that by 2030 emissions from commercial buildings will grow by 1.8%, the need for sustainable smart building design to minimise energy has never been more critical.

Coenergi, with over 10 years’ experience in designing highly efficient AC systems and over 12 LEED certifications in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh said it was proud to be appointed LEED Consultants for the project.

Awarded by the US Green Building Council, LEED is the world’s leading green building certification with over 2.4 million square feet certified on a daily basis globally.
