BDO joins real estate consultant expert PropertyGuru to evaluate 2018 achievers

PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards is one of the largest and most respected real estate awards programs in the Asian region, covering more than a dozen countries. The awards are aimed at rewarding the best developers and developments, at both domestic and regional level. It is the benchmark of excellence for Asian real estate. The Awards program has an unparalleled reputation for being credible, fair and transparent. All entries are rigorously and fairly judged by an independent panel of industry experts and assessed by a trusted awards supervisor.

BDO Sri Lanka has been appointed as the official Awards Supervisor for 2018. BDO has worked with the organisers of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards for over a decade across many countries in the Asian region. Leveraging on its experience in monitoring contests and awards programs around the world, BDO Sri Lanka has been entrusted with overseeing the entire judging process this year, to ensure that the judging is conducted fairly and with integrity. 

BDO Sri Lanka Managing Partner Sujeewa Rajapakse explained that the role of the Awards Supervisor involved: BDO staff reviewing completed entry forms to check that they meet published criteria; a BDO representative to be present at judges’ meetings to ensure that prescribed criteria and procedures are correctly followed; and a BDO team member will join selected site visits to check procedures are correctly followed. Further, BDO Sri Lanka will approve all results in selecting the Winner and Highly Commended awards before presenting it to the organisers. 

Rajapakse also expressed that BDO Sri Lanka is delighted to be partnering with such an esteemed awards program, and mentioned that as a firm of Chartered Accountants, his team was well experienced with similar engagements in the past.

PropertyGuru has announced that the inaugural PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Sri Lanka) will be held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo on 12 July. The awards ceremony is to be followed by a gala dinner.
