In structuring today’s business organisations, we can take some powerful lessons from the jelly fish. Depending on the environment and the circumstances, the jelly fish can swiftly change its shape and colour – precisely the kind of traits that business organisations operating in a highly competitive and dynamic environment must possess.

By contrast, as organisations grow in age and size, they tend to build ‘empires,’ some even consider their organisational structures to be more permanent than the office buildings they own! The jelly fish has existed for over 650 million years and interesting research is emerging on the immortal jelly fish called ‘Turritopsis Nutricula’. Will humans ever learn?
