Country management as a degree

In school and university, we are taught economics, politics, business and social sciences as different subjects. The unfolding of the events in Egypt clearly shows that, from a country management perspective, it needs to be analysed and strategised holistically.

However, country management is still not offered as a degree. Where will the future leaders of countries learn the basics of managing a country? Should it not be a pre-requisite for anyone who aspires for country management? The nations that have prospered in the last 50 years are ones that have developed management resources and not necessarily the ones rich in natural resources. Winston Churchill was spot-on when said: “The empires of the future are the empires of the mind.”
