UNP hierarchy – a change long over due

After the defeat of the UNF candidate at the recent election, various views are being expressed on the subject by the UNP hierarchy.

I re-produce an article which appeared in the Sunday Leader in May 2010, when the UNP faced a situation identical to the one it does today.

Readers will agree that if changes proposed by me at that time were implemented, the party would have been in a stronger position to face the recently concluded Presidential Election. It is still not too late for the present leader of the UNP to accept this scenario and give an opportunity to the General Membership of the party to decide on the required changes in the UNP Leadership.

If this does not happen, I dread to think how the young leaders within the party who are clamouring for a change will go forward.
