The All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) party is in the process of preparing its proposals with regard to the amendments of the Constitution, in consultation with the relevant Muslim associations, especially the Shura Council of Sri Lanka, Muslim Council of Sri Lanka, National Front for Good Governance, All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, and Eastern Organization for Constitutional Reforms.

Apart from this, ACMC is organising a seminar for all former Muslim Parliamentarians at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo on 26 April, in order to obtain their valuable views and opinion to be included in the proposed amendments to the Constitution.

ACMC Secretary General S. Subairdeen said this matter was being handled by the ACMC’s Consultative Committee for Constitutional Reforms. It is in communication with the SLMC, TNA, JVP and Democratic People’s Alliance as well as Workers’ Congress pertaining to the matter.

After obtaining the views and opinion from all stakeholders, various political entities and social organisations as well as intellectuals, it will be submitted to the party’s leadership for onward transmission to the National Constitutional Council with necessary consent.
