  • MPs to discuss status-quo of Opposition Leader 

The United National Party (UNP) parliamentary group will meet on Thursday to decide on the Opposition Leader position, a top official said yesterday.

Responding to a question on the Opposition Leader position and possibility of selecting a new party leader, UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said the appointed of the Opposition Leader and “other important matters” will be discussed at the meeting on Thursday.    Despite the lapse of over two weeks since the Presidential Election the UNP is yet to decide on the Opposition Leader with different camps fighting between UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and MP Sajith Premadasa.
