Two COVID-19 deaths bring fatalities to 598

Two COVID-19 positive persons died yesterday and 598 COVID-19-related deaths have occurred in the country to date.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, a 60-year-old individual from Puttalam was transferred from the Puttalam District General Hospital to the Maharagama Apeksha Hospital, before being admitted to the Homagama Base Hospital. He died of COVID pneumonia, blood poisoning and cancer at the Homagama Base Hospital yesterday.

An individual from Baddegama tested positive for COVID-19 at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital and was transferred to the Pimbura Base Hospital, where he died yesterday. The cause of death is cited as COVID pneumonia and COVID encephalitis. The individual was 72-years-old.
