Speaker urges MPs to follow health guidelines

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena yesterday requested all MPs, Parliament staff and journalists covering sessions to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the health authorities to minimise the spread of COVID-19.

“Wear facemasks when you come to Parliament and keep wearing them as long as you remain here and wash your hands from time to time. Please strictly follow the health guidelines,” the Speaker said in an announcement to the House. 

He requested them to adhere to health guidelines even when they are outside Parliament.
