Soldiers killed in Kilinochchi as Army truck collides with train

At least 5 army soldiers were killed while another 2 soldiers were wounded when an army truck collided with a train in Kilinochchi yesterday.

The Army truck had collided with the train traveling from Colombo to Jaffna at a railway crossing in between the Kilinochchi and Murukkandi train stations. Army Spokesman Brigadier Sumith Atapattu said the soldiers injured in the accident have been rushed to the Kilinochchi hospital and one of the wounded is in critical condition.

At the time of the accident, seven army personnel had been traveling in the truck.
