Selected Easter attack victims to get houses

  • Govt. allocates Rs. 45 m to build houses for 14 families affected by bombings 

The Cabinet of Ministers yesterday approved a proposal to build 14 houses for victims of the Easter Sunday bombings at a cost of Rs. 45 million. All the families were those affected by the attack on St. Sebastian’s Church, Katuwapitiya in Negombo. Each of the houses is estimated to cost Rs. 3.24 million each. Cabinet approval to implement a housing project for selected families affected by the bombings in Katuwapitiya was given in September last year. 

Minister of Urban Development and Housing Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa had submitted a proposal, which was approved by the Cabinet this week to award the construction of 14 houses under the said program to the State Engineering Corporation.
