Poson celebrations in Amman, Jordan

Devotees clad in white thronged in their hundreds, on 27 June, to celebrate the Poson festival organised by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Amman, Jordan.

The program included the observance of Atasil, Dharmadeshana, Buddha Pooja, Meditation sessions and Dhamma discussions, conducted by senior Buddhist monks. 

The Chief Sangha Nayaka of the Northern and Eastern Provinces Ven. Dehiowita Piyatissa Thero and Ven. Tawalanhalmillawe Devananda Thero were especially flown in from Sri Lanka to conduct the religious ceremony. The event was celebrated with great piety by the Sri Lankan expatriate workers in Jordan. The surroundings of the Embassy were decorated to create a Poson atmosphere.
