NPM to announce presidential candidate on Sunday

• Ex-Army Chief tipped to NPM Choice 

The National People’s Movement (NPM), with a collective of like-minded groups will announce their candidate for the upcoming presidential election this Sunday, the NPM said.

Source indicates that former Army Commander Maj. Gen (Rtd.) Mahesh Senanayake is tipped to be the NPM candidate. NPM officials declined to comment on who their candidate was. However, a senior member conceded that Senanayake is being considered and was like to be the NPM choice.

The candidate announcement events will be held on Sunday 29 September, at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium at 1.30 p.m.
