Maths tutor connected to Kalagedihena attack remanded till 29 July

Mathematic tutor Dinesh Nuwan Amaratunga along with seven other suspects in connection with an alleged attack on a van by a group of people at Kalagedihena have been remanded till 29 July by the Attanagalle Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Police Spokesmen said Nuwan Amaratunga and three other suspects surrendered to Attanagalle Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Three other suspects surrendered to Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) earlier. 

The alleged attack was reported form Kalagedihena last Thursday and a video recorded on CCTV and a mobile phone had been widely circulated on social media in, which suspects had attacked a van for not allowing them to overtake the other vehicle.

License plates of the two vehicles involved in the alleged attack were recorded. Later it was revealed that the Prado is registered under the name of Dinesh Nuwan Amaratunga, while the Defender is registered under the name of Udam Indula Sampath Bandara Amaratunga.
