Maj. Gen. Bangsajayah assumes duties as Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Commandant

Maj. Gen. T.S. Bangsajayah RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, an illustrious Officer with more than 34 years of service from the Gemunu Watch and the Senior Officer, assumed duties as the 42nd Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force on 1 June.

Maj. Gen. Suraj Bangsajayah is a proud product of St. Benedict’s College, Colombo. He joined the Sri Lanka Army in 1985 and underwent training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa and was commissioned on 31 May 1986 and posted to the 1st Battalion the Gemunu Watch.

He has held many Commanding, Staff and Instructor appointments in various military formations and he has followed many training courses both local and foreign in his military career. He is a graduate from National Defence University, China and has obtained a Master of Arts in Sociology from University of Kelaniya.Maj. Gen. Bangsajayah was decorated with Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP) and Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) for his exceptional unique performances, valour and bravery that he displayed in the face of the enemy during operations and also a recipient of Vishista Sewa Vibhushanaya (VSV) and Uttama Seva Padakkama (USP) for his unblemished military career in the Army.
