President Gotabaya Rajapaksa receiving blessings

  • Says President has been given the mandate by the people

The Maha Sangha on Saturday said President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been given the mandate by the people of the country to make the most appropriate Constitution for Sri Lanka.

These comments were made by the Chief Priests of Lankaramaya, Mirisawetiya and Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi Viharas when the President, who was in Anuradhapura, visited these temples.

The Theros stated that they are more than enthusiastic to see President Gotabaya’s forward journey to establish a self-sustained economy, while fulfilling the expectations of the citizens.

President Rajapaksa paid homage to the Lankarama Viharaya and engaged in pleasantries with the Chief Priest Ralapanawe Dhammajothi Thero. He inspected the progress of the ongoing conservations and did not forget to converse with the devotees present at the temple premises.

During this visit, the President also paid homage to the Atamasthana yesterday.

He called on the Chief Priest of Mirisawetiya Ithalawatunawawe Nghanathilaka Nayaka Thero and received blessings.

Thereafter, President Rajapaksa visited the Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi Vihara and inquired into the well-being of the Nugethanne Sri Panghananda Thero.
