Roads and Highways and Ports and Shipping Minister Johnston Fernando instructed officials overseeing the management of Galle Face Green to decorate the surrounding coastal line and walking paths with solar powered lighting to illuminate the area, following his observations made during a recent inspection of the landmark.

Accordingly, SLMPCS of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority has informed the Minister that this project will commence within a month under its direct assistance.

Minister Fernando had instructed the relevant officials to complete the project immediately while strengthening President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s concept of beautifying the country. Furthermore, Minister Fernando had advised officials to consider all factors such as walking paths, the coastal line and wind flow at Galle Face Green prior to implementation in order to ensure attractiveness, durability and high standards. This guarantees that the project will be eco-friendly as it uses solar-powered lights.

Galle Face Green is a popular and beloved site frequented by everyone, especially families looking to escape their houses during their leisure time. Underscoring this fact, Fernando stated that this relaxation was vital in bringing about physical and mental wellbeing in society, which in turn had a significant influence on overall productivity.
