Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has organised mass protests, demonstrations and seminars in several towns in the island on 9 November, to protest against the unconstitutional and unethical political conspiracy carried out against the people, JVP leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayaka said.

Speaking at a press conference held at the head office of the JVP in Pelawatte, MP Dissanayaka said the JVP would not be a part of the power struggle going on to find out who has the majority in Parliament.

He said the JVP will not vote on behalf of either of the two Prime Ministers, but will vote at any other opportunity to defeat the political conspiracy, once Parliament is reconvened.

The JVP leader said Parliament was prorogued to support the political conspiracy that was carried out by the President on 26 October.

MP Dissanayaka emphasised that the JVP would take measures to defeat, within Parliament and outside it, the political conspiracy and the culture of forming Governments by alluring MPs with money privileges and positions.

The JVP Leader said the party would never support Ranil Wickremesinghe or Mahinda Rajapaksa to form a Government, or defend their power bases.

Dissanayake said that the JVP is ready to vote against the President’s policy statement of the new Government and the appointments made in violation of the Constitution. The JVP will also vote against the new Government’s Budget, if it is tabled in Parliament, he said.

The JVP leader urged the people to act against this political conspiracy.
