ITUKAMA COVID-19 fund tops Rs. 1.5 b

The ‘ITUKAMA’ COVID-19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund initiated by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has surpassed Rs. 1,511 million in contributions from corporate, individual donations and direct deposits.

President’s Media Division (PMD) in a statement on Thursday said Government employees of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council have donated Rs. 17,504,709.35 to the Fund. This sum was handed over to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa by Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa.

In addition, Rs. 100,000 from W.A. Upali Premathilaka, Rs. 10,000 from J. Lalitha Robinson, Rs. 5,000 from Honus Brothers and Lalanda, Rs. 10,000 from Kanate Gedara Eliza, Rs. 10,000 from B.M.Rathnayake, Rs. 5,000 from T.L. Premarathne, Rs. 500 from K.C.S.K. Premalal, Rs. 1,500 from K.R. Danuja Thikshana, Rs. 687,500 from the Kegalle District Sasanarakshaka Mandalaya and Rs. 250,000 was donated to the Fund from the Mawanella Bhikkhu Balamandalaya and Mawanella Sasanarakshaka Balamandalaya.  These donations were handed over to President Rajapaksa. Parents of the medical students at the Kursk State Medical University in Russia have donated Rs. 115,000 to the Fund. Secretary and the staff of the Central Provincial Council donated Rs. 44,500 and the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA) donated Rs. 111,899.82. Engineer L.W.D. Danansuriya donated Rs. 100,000 and Rubber Development Department donated Rs. 96,696.04. The Fund’s balance has now reached Rs. 1,511,158,364.14.
