High Court Judge interdicted

High Court Judge Gihan Pilapitiya was interdicted yesterday over his involvement in the controversial telephone conversation recording made by Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake. 

The action follows recommendations made to President Gotabaya Rajapaksha by the Judicial Services Commission (JSC). 

Justice Pilapitiya was questioned on Monday by the Colombo Crimes Division, which also recorded a statement from retired judge Padmini Ranawaka on the matter, following a directive issued by Attorney General Dappula de Livera.

The JSC also interdicted Baddegama Magistrate Dhammika Hemapala for his involvement in the leaked phone recordings controversy.
