Govt. seeks Rs. 134.4 m supplementary allocation

The Government moved a Rs. 134.4 million supplementary allocation yesterday in Parliament seeking House approval to support a Cabinet decision enabling lawmakers to maintain an office in their respective electorates and to fund a few other State matters.

The supplementary allocation request was submitted to the finance committee for approval and will permit allocating Rs.134.4 million to support the lawmakers with a monthly payment of Rs. 100,000 each with effect from December last year.  

The paper also included the requests to allocate a total of Rs. 98.9 million to purchase a vehicle for the Minister overseeing the Department of Project Management and Monitoring of National Policies and Economic Affairs, to renovate the residences of the Minister of Public Enterprise Development and the Leader of the Opposition, Rs. 20 billion for disaster relief and Rs. 495,000 to pay rent for a new vehicle for the President.
