Former Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Director Shani Abeysekara was yesterday issued a travel ban by the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court.

The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD), which is investigating the controversial telephone conversations between UNP MP Ranjan Ramanayake and others, had requested that Abeysekara, who was also interdicted on Tuesday, be issued with a travel ban in light of the charges made against him. 

Abeysekara was interdicted from his post by the National Police Commission, and the IGP was tasked with submitting a report on his actions within two weeks.
