Five COVID-19 deaths bring total to 375

The country’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 375 with health authorities confirming five more COVID-19 deaths, including two that occurred yesterday.

According to the Department of Government Information, a 75-year-old individual from Gampaha yesterday died of COVID pneumonia while receiving treatment at the Divulapitiya District Hospital.

An individual from Wellampitiya also died of COVID pneumonia yesterday. The 61-year-old individual tested positive for COVID-19 at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL) and was transferred to the Iranawila Treatment Centre, where he passed away.

On 9 February, an individual from Colombo 5 died of COVID pneumonia, heart disease, and a stroke while receiving treatment at the NHSL. She was 73 years old.

The same day, a 67-year-old individual from Aluthgama died of blood poisoning, acute kidney disease and COVID pneumonia at the National Institute of Infectious Disease (NIID), where he was admitted after testing positive for COVID-19 at a private hospital in Colombo.

Health authorities added that a 51-year-old individual from Wattala tested positive for COVID-19 at a private hospital in Colombo and was transferred to the Colombo East Base Hospital, where she died on 8 February. The cause of death was cited as COVID pneumonia.
