Fatalities rise to 581 with two COVID-19 deaths

Health authorities yesterday confirmed two COVID-19 deaths, which brought the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 581.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, a 79-year-old individual from Pansiyagama died at her place of residence on 2 April. The cause of death is cited as heart disease and COVID-19.

A 61-year-old individual from Moronthota died while receiving treatment at the Kegalle Teaching Hospital on 18 March. The individual died of heart disease exacerbated due to COVID-19 and chronic lung disease.
