Dr. Wignaraja joins Pathfinder Foundation as Senior Visiting Fellow

Dr. Ganeshan Wignaraja


 

Dr. Ganeshan Wignaraja, an international development expert, policy advisor and researcher, has joined the Pathfinder Foundation as Senior Visiting Fellow. 

Dr. Wignaraja is presently a Senior Research Associate at the Overseas Institute in London, a Visiting Scholar at the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC and a Member of the Monetary Policy Consultative Committee of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

In a career spanning over 30 years in the UK and Asia, Dr. Wignaraja has held senior roles in international organisations (including the Director of Research at the ADB Institute in Tokyo), Government-linked think tanks (including Executive Director of the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies in Colombo), and the private sector (including Global Head of Trade and Competitiveness at Maxwell Stamp PLC in London).

His expertise covers macroeconomic analysis, international trade and regional economic integration, foreign aid and infrastructure connectivity, economic and business competitiveness and poverty and inequality. 

He has published 20 books on these topics and successfully led teams to deliver complex projects for bilateral and multilateral aid agencies in over 30 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America. Dr. Wignaraja, has a DPhil in economics from Oxford University and a BSc in economics from the London School of Economics.
