Court issues summons to Rajitha

The Colombo High Court yesterday issued summons for United National Party Parliamentarian Rajitha Senaratne to appear in Court on 5 March. 

High Court Judge Manjula Thilakarathna issued the order after considering a revision application filed by Attorney General Dappula de Livera, challenging the bail order issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayarathne. 

The Attorney General’s Department argued that Senaratne had been given bail by violating the fundamentals of natural justice and requested Court to revoke the issued bail order.  Senaratne was arrested after previously organising a controversial press conference on alleged white van abductions a few days before last year’s Presidential Elections.
