China donates 2,752 tons of rice

At the request of the Sri Lankan Government, the Chinese Government agreed to donate 2,752 tons of rice for emergency humanitarian relief. 

The project is implemented by COFCO Corporation. The first batch of 1,000 tons of rice to Colombo was handed over to Sri Lanka at the Colombo Port on Wednesday. Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa and President’s Secretary Austin Fernando accepted the first batch on behalf of the Government. It was handed over by Chinese Ambassador Yi Xianliang.
