Charles appointed Northern Province Governor

Senior Sri Lanka Administrative Service officer with vast experience P.S.M. Charles was appointed as the Northern Province Governor by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday.

Charles previously served as the District Secretariat of Vavuniya and Batticaloa. She also served as Director General of Customs and Secretary to the Health Ministry.

During the end of the conflict in 2009, Charles was in charge of the refugee camps in Vavuniya, housing about 290,000 people from the war-torn districts of Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi and Mannar.

Charles is a graduate of the University of Jaffna. She obtained two Masters Degrees from the Peradeniya University and Rajarata University in the fields of Disaster Management and Business Administration.
