CPC hosts first-ever ifthar ceremony at CPSTL

Minister Arjuna Ranatunga stated that development of the country is fuelled by the peaceful co-existence between the different ethnicities in Sri Lanka. He made this review during an ifthar ceremony held at Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminal Ltd. (CPSTL) in Kolonnawa, recently.

CPSTL organised this ceremony under the advice of Chairman Dhammika Ranatunga. Workers of Islamic faith from CPC and CPSTL participated to break the Ramadan fast at this historic event. 

“In the past, there was no unity between ethnicities. We started to separate in schools as well as in the community. The past three years our Government strives to halt this ethnic divide by cultivating national unity in a reconciling Sri Lanka. During the Sinhala and Tamil New Year we celebrate the Sri Lankan culture. Ramadan teaches about self-discipline, generosity and charity. While there are some unseen forces that are creating disharmony we should stand in solidarity as a united Sri Lanka,” Minister Arjuna Ranatunga stated. 

Chairman Dhammika Ranatunga stated that priority should be given to work together for the betterment of the institutions and the country.

“When Minister Arjuna Ranatunga was the Minister of Ports, our principal was to celebrate all religious ceremonies. Bitter incidents took place, few months ago. They have forgotten that everyone has the same blood,” the Chairman stated. Ministry of Petroleum Resources Development Secretary Upali Marasinghe, CPC Managing Director Neil Jayasekara and CPSTL Managing Director Sanjeewa Wiyarathna graced the occasion.
