COVID-19 fatalities rise to 568 with two more deaths

Two COVID-19 deaths occurred yesterday and the country’s COVID-19 death toll has risen to 568.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, an 85-year-old individual from Wattala tested positive for COVID-19 while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.

She was then admitted to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, where she died of trauma of blood poisoning, acute kidney damage, high blood pressure, diabetes, and COVID pneumonia.

An individual from Eravur, Batticaloa tested positive for COVID-19 while receiving treatment at the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital. He was transferred to the Welikanda Hospital, where he died of blood poisoning, acute kidney damage, and COVID pneumonia. The individual was 74 years old.
