COVID-19 death toll rises to 493 with four more deaths

Four COVID-19 deaths occurred yesterday, bringing the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 493.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, a 67-year-old individual from Colombo 8 tested positive for COVID-19 at a private hospital in Colombo and was admitted to the Homagama Base Hospital. However, he died of COVID pneumonia, acute diabetes, and kidney disease yesterday.

An 81-year-old individual from Colombo 10 was transferred from the National Hospital of Sri Lanka to the Homagama Base Hospital after testing positive for COVID-19. He died yesterday of COVID pneumonia, high blood pressure, acute diabetes, and heart disease.

An 84-year-old individual from Rajagiriya tested positive for COVID-19 while receiving treatment at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka and was transferred to the Colombo East Base Hospital, where she died of acute kidney disease, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

Among yesterday’s deaths is an individual from Atala who was receiving treatment at the Kegalle District Hospital when he tested positive for COVID-19 and was transferred to the Kandy General Hospital. However, he died of acute kidney damage and COVID pneumonia yesterday. He was 39-years-old.
