One COVID-19 death that occurred yesterday brought the country’s total COVID-19 death toll to 274, health authorities confirmed.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, the individual was from Mallawagedara and tested positive for COVID-19 while receiving treatment at the Negombo District General Hospital. She was then transferred to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, where she yesterday died of trauma of blood poisoning due to COVID pneumonia and acute diabetes.

She was 53-years-old.
