COVID-19 death toll increases to 61

The COVID-19 death toll yesterday rose to 61, with health authorities confirming three more COVID-19-related deaths.

According to the Department of Government Information, all three deaths occurred in the Colombo District, with two being residents of Colombo city.

An 84-year-old resident of Moratuwa passed away at home due to diabetes with COVID-19 infection.

A resident of Colombo 10 was admitted to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID) after he tested positive for the virus. However, the 70-year-old man died of chronic kidney disease and a stroke while suffering from COVID-19.

Meanwhile, a 75-year-old resident of Colombo 13 died while being admitted to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka. The cause of death is cited as diabetes and congenital heart disease worsened by COVID-19.
