Bust of late AG Shibly Aziz unveiled at Colombo Law Library

In commemoration of the first death anniversary of the late Shibly Aziz, President’s Counsel, former Attorney General of Sri Lanka and former President of the Bars Association of Sri Lanka, a bust of him was ceremonially unveiled at the Colombo Law Library in Hulfstdorp.

In special attendance during the official unveiling were Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya PC, Attorney General Dappula De Livera PC, Judges of the Superior Courts of Sri Lanka, President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka Kalinga Indatissa PC, legal luminaries from the official and unofficial Bar, together with the late Aziz’s immediate family members.

Paying tribute to her late husband, Fathima Aziz said that those who knew the late Shibly Aziz would remember him as a deeply humble person who avoided the limelight wherever possible. “He stood for integrity, decency and respect, all values that are more important today than ever before. Hence the inscription on the pedestal aptly reads ‘If you seek his real monument, look around you’, serving as a gentle reminder to look beyond the monument to see his real passions and achievements, amidst the culture and people of the hallowed halls of Hulftsdorp, where he spent his life contributing to it,” she stated.
