Ambassador Jayatilleka attends ‘Globalisation in Contemporary Asia’ conference

20 November marked the first day of the International Conference ‘Globalisation in Contemporary Asia’, organised by the Higher School of Economics. 

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka attended the said conference at the invitation of Dr. Sergey Karaganov, Dean of the HSE Faculty of the World Economy and International Affairs. 

The conference began with the plenary session, which gathered more than 80 guests, among whom were distinguished Russian and foreign academicians, scientists, senior government officials, as well as Heads of Foreign Diplomatic Missions in Moscow. 

After the plenary session Jayatilleka participated in the session ‘Middle East. Global and regional factors: issues of interaction in resolving conflicts and crisis situations’, where the attendees discussed such pressing issues, as Iran in the Middle East interior, Issues of Interaction in Solving Conflicts with Special Focus on South Asia and Regional Conflict Negotiations. Furthermore, Ambassador Jayatilleka took part in the panel session on South Asia in the light of current global trends. 

The International Conference was referred to as a universal platform for prominent academicians and officials with various backgrounds, but the same interest — one in contemporary Asia — to jointly discuss a range of matters concerning the current state of modern Asia, its place in the global perspective and possible challenges, faced in the region.
