The Airport and Aviation Authority yesterday decided that it will only allow passengers to enter the airport.

Visitors accompanying passengers will not be allowed to enter the arrival or departure terminals.

The program was implemented from 6.00 am yesterday. The Chairman of the authority made the decision in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus amongst passengers.

Accordingly, visitors dropping off departing passengers and receiving arriving passengers are prohibited from entering the airport premises.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi and members of the National Action Committee appointed to prevent the coronavirus spreading in the country paid an emergency visit to the airport to observe the measures being taken to prevent the coronavirus outbreak.
