AG directs Welikada ex-OIC arrested for fabricating evidence in Champika Ranawaka case

Attorney General Dapplula  de Livera yesterday directed the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) obtain a warrant and arrest Welikada Police Station former OIC ASP Sudath Asmadala for fabricating false evidence against former MP Patali Champika Ranawaka in relation to an accident involving his vehicle in 2016 when he was the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development.

Ranawaka was taken into Police custody in December last year after the change in Government on the instructions of the AG and was remanded. He was later released on bail.

Ranawaka has denied any wrongdoing and said he was being framed for the accident which took place at Rajagiriya and claims a speeding motorcycle hit his vehicle, causing serious injuries to a young man.
