Attorney General Dappula De Livera

Attorney General (AG) Dappula De Livera yesterday summoned the Director of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) DIG Prasad Ransinghe and sought explanation as to why the arrest of the former minister Rishard Bathuideen is delayed.

According to the AG’s Coordinating Secretary State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne, the AG had advised the CID to uphold the law and to conduct themselves in a manner so that the public does not lose faith in the Police department.

The AG had also advised the CID to not to undermine Court Orders or his advice and to act swiftly in the pursuit of justice. Further, he had advised the CID to bring to book all those who aid and abide persons who are wanted by the law. (AF)
