69th death anniversary  of ‘Father of the Nation’

The 69th death anniversary of the first Prime Minister of an independent Sri Lanka, and the founder of the United National Party, D.S. Senanayake, was held yesterday at the Senanayake Samadhi in front of the historic Botale Walawwa in Mirigama. 

The theme of the event was ‘Tribute to the Father of the Nation’. UNP Deputy Leader and D.S. Senanayake’s great grandson Ruwan Wijewardena, General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara and other UNP leaders were also present at the occasion.

Another commemoration was held near Senanayake’s statue at the Independent Square.
